Speed sensor and load cell wire length

Hi I am converting a pair of Dynocom hub dynos. My plan is to have all the electronics in a separate cabinet on the back of my computer cart. In order to do this, I will most likely have to extend the speed sensor and load cell wires for dyno furthest from the computer cart. Is this okay to do? also can I have the load cell and speed sensor wires routed together and utilizing the mil spec connector?

Hi,

8 meter is no problem, up to 10 meter works too. Keep below 8 if you can. Make sure to use shielded cables. Best to splice the cables close to the sensors so you have a continuous cable.

The RPM cables and load cell cables must have individual shields, as one is an analog signal with VERY small signals, and the other is a digital signal. The RPM will make noise on the load cell if you don't use individual shields. The easiest is two individual shielded cables.

I run about 15m cable on mine and it works fine. I use shielded cable and shield connected on the yourdyno controller side. Where the cable connect to the loadcell I just used normal wago inline splices

 

but yes if you plan to use breaker ignition with non resistor plugs etc then no matter what you do its a recipe for issues.
