I ran across your site by accident. Very impressed on what I have seen.

Currently our dynodynamics roller dyno is doing ok. But, when we start having an issue We will be switching over to your product.I don't enjoy working with them

Questions i have is :

1 will my ignition pickup sensor from dynodynamics work on your system?

2 At this time the drum speed sensor is a 2 wire analog sensor which works off of the cut slots on the end of the drum. Will your hall sensor work there also, or will we need to install a different wheel?

3 can we piggyback at this time so we could actually use the dyno either way by switching wires from one system to the other?

Hi,

1) I don't know the dynodynamics ignition pickup by heart, but if it produces a 0-5V signal then it can be used. If not then you need to use one of the methods here if you want direct engine RPM measurement: Engine RPM - YourDyno.com. I definitely recommend a Bluetooth OBD2 if you test regular cars, or CAN bus if you test engines with CANbus capable ECU instead of the ignition pickup.

2) Send a pic of the slots, I can take a look

3) Do you have a inertia dyno then yes. For a brake dyno it is more tricky as only one system can read the load cell

Let me know if you have more questions!

No, that trigger wheel will not work with the hall effect sensor. It should be fairly simple to mount the YourDyno trigger wheel to the axle.

@admin OK No problem I can mount the wheel off the end of the shaft, The dynodynamics ignition pickup works off of 12 volts. so should work with your add on board. we dyno a ton of motorcycles without obd .

Attached a pic of our eddie current. any issues?

That's a good brake, no problem.

For the ignition pickup, make sure to use an optocoupler (that is maybe what you meant by the addon board:-) ).

@osi hi i converted my DynoDynamics to Yourdyno we found orig pick up wouldnt work so we glued little magnets evenly spaced on end of roller with a pick up from Jostien, worked perfect, just run a complete power supply and dyno box from Yourdyno and it will work great, the eddy brake is 96v on those dyno's

@osi much better for me, but i had a pretty old program and the whole upgrade cost me around 3k instead of the 10k Dyno Dynamics wanted to upgrade it

I have done this conversion recently with great success.

1.  I made a simple adapter board for the DD ignition pickup and it works perfectly well, much better than it ever did with the DD hardware! 🙂

2.  The speed sensor Jostien sells works well with the notches in the DD rollers

3. I wired mine to reuse the umbilical cord and the SCR in the existing pit board.  It's possible to switch back and forth between DD and YD in about 20mins, but you'll never go back 🙂

Note that you'll need to buy the YD power supply or do as I did and source a single phase gate trigger module to re-use the SCR in the pit board.

The DD load cell works without modification also.

Sure, I'll have to go back and see what I did and draw it for you.

Give me a few days 🙂
