If I install a new software version, can I copy the user.config from the old version to the new version ? or do I have to make all my settings again in the new version ?

Hi, all settings are transferred automatically to the new version, so no need to do anything manually. I recommend always to keep a backup file of the options though!

To transfer to a new PC, Backup options to file, then on the new pc do a Restore options from file.

Each time I update the software I have to change options/brake controller setup back to Analog Output as it always changes to PWM during the update.

So if anyone is having problems after an update, this is worth checking.

@bendd

I have had this problem since first versions, I never made comment or looked to have it addressed.  After update it does revert back to PWM which sets the stepper into a oscillation until I change it back to stepper mode, despite transferring all my other settings correctly. Minor inconvenience but yes it is an issue that could be cleaned up.

Hi Folks!

YourDyno software version 3.2.162 was released today with some nice goodies.

  • Support for two more hotkeys:
    • Load/Unload car: Lock brake to 100%. It will only engage if the roller RPM is 0 as a safety feature
    • Panic: Lock brake to 100%. This turns on also when the rollers are spinning (obviously), so be careful not to accidentally press it. If you only use Lock brake to load and unload cars, better just program the Load/Unload button
  • New Manual brake mode. There are now two manual brake modes: Manual RPM control (as before) and Direct Brake control. In the latter mode you control the brake directly with the Brake+/Brake- buttons or hotkeys
  • If you use newer firmware than the standard version, there is no warning anymore (older versions still get a warning)
  • Fixed a bug where software upgrades would always revert the brake setup to PWM. Now it keeps whatever setting you had
  • Fixed a (visual only) bug where the connection would say "Low" or "Very low" before a run was started for Inertia dynos

Enjoy!

Thank you again for helping us out. I know we always keep asking for more. And you give us more thank you. On your load unload option is there anyway you can work all the time instead or only during a run. A lot of times while loading unloading we’re not hooked to the vehicle yet

Hi, just open the Run window and press the button, you don't need to hook up to anything on the car. Or did I misunderstand you?

Sorry for the double.

i try not to have the run open any longer than I have to. It can screw up my first pull.
wish the hot key for load and unload could work in main screen also. If not no big deal

in power sweep a mph to mph option would be nice

Yeah, easy to implement, but I was thinking to reduce the risk of someone accidentally pressing the Load/unload button and not noticing.

There is a hotkey for opening the Run window, so you could push that, then push the lock button. It is just 2 buttons instead of 1 🙂

Yes, Power sweep using speed instead of RPM is on the backlog!

To avoid accidental application of the load/unload button you could require a second press of the hotkey?

A pop up window (like the HP/Tq results flash splash screen) saying ".......press again to confirm" and then warning that the brake is locked should remove any possibility of applying it accidentally.

The splash window could also have a countdown timer that de-energises the brake after 30 seconds so it can't be left on too long and overheat.

This is how I implemented my own brake lock for unloading using a hotkey activated DOS script in the background and it's very safe.

Hi Jostein,

is it possible to deactivate those 100% lock hotkeys?

I would prefer not to have them because a eddy current at continuous 100% will overheat rapidly, leading to potential catastrophic results (thinking about unintentional activating of load) or unsafe situations/tyres damage/stress on straps while pressing panic by mistake when engine is launched at high rpm in a long gear.

To me the panic would come if the brake would engage 100% suddenly 😁

if I feel something is feeling unsafe it happened once to just smash the foot on the brakes and in half a second everything was stopped, engine, rollers, etc

They are disabled by default.  The hotkey is set to 'None' in the options unless you change it.
