Hi

l have problem with the rpm sensor/ trigger wheel. It show a rpm of 2500-3000 when the engine idle at 1800-1900 rpm. so about 1000 rpm wrong.

l think the problem is the trigger wheel l have made.  see picture below

If l make a new trigger wheel , what should l change ?

Outer diameter so distance between teeth will be wider and maybe also wider teeth?

best regards

glenn

That wheel should work. Not a lot of teeth though, is this an engine brake? Check out this link

Otherwise two possible causes:

  1. You have not set the Number of pulses per revolution correctly
  2. Gear ratio is wrong

OK, engine brake, then 12 teeth is fine.

Yes, you put 12 pulses per revolution. But for an engine dyno, the gear ratio is 1, unless you have a gear box. So for Engine RPM source, you select "Set gear ratio manually". Set it to 1 and it should be fine!
