I have made a linear valve from a globe valve by modifying the valve disc.
Considering the relationship between flow rate and cross-sectional area (Formula Q=AV), the curve profile of the new valve disc was drawn in CAD by finding the equation of the curve and then getting it manufactured by a CNC lathe.
Found to be a cost-effective alternative to using the L&S and is working well with my setup.
Attached is a photo of the initial valve disc and the new disc.
@nsmve That is the exact valve that I am using and the same stepper motor. I still haven't dug mine back out of the corner to test the new speed sensor setup. Between Christmas and New Year's I should have some time to do so. Looking forward to see how your's works for you.
Thanks for the info and pictures, that looks like a realy simple solution.
Do you know how many turns the valve is open to closed ? I wasn't sure the respose time would be quick enough with the stepper directly coupled to the valve
Regards
Steve
@swmotorsport my friend this valve have 9 turns ..response is good quick and hard torque steeper motor is more than enough for a water brake
