Can someone please verify the proper wiring of a load cell connector?  I have one prewired from yourdyno and the shield wire is getting hot. I have blue, black, white, green, red as seen in the photo attached.

I think my alternator is back feeding thru the load cell shield. I’ll have to make my torque arm out of an insulating material instead of aluminum.

Hi,

The connections are correct.

Are you seeing noise, that is why you think the alternator is feeding back through the shield? You may try to disconnect the shield at the YourDyno side and see if it helps.

Yes I was seeing noise. This is the small engine dyno using a car alternator as a brake. Alternator was sending noise through the dyno structure to the torque arm and then back through the load cell and it’s shield.

I had to scrap my original aluminum torque arm and made one from wood now. Problem solved. Thank you

Update, I now realize my setup was configured in such a way that I was spinning the alternator backwards.  I fear this may have been sending a very large current out through the case of the alternator and into the alternator support structure and then through the torque arm and through the load cell into its shielding. I feel very fortunate that I didn't burn out my yourdyno box on the first day I hooked it up.  That was a close call,  lesson learned.  Using wooden torque arm now and I will reconfigure the setup so the alternator is spun in the correct direction.  Jostein I absolutely love the system, your products are awesome, software is great, load cell working great and rpm setup from you is all working fantastic.

This attached picture shows three runs in about three minutes.  Pretty close to one another,  really happy with these results.
