Hi all.
Is there anyone who has a reasonable supplier of eddy current brakes ? quality / price.
I am planing to build an engine dyno for testing small engines for Gardenpulling up to around 50hp/6000rpm.

I would be interested to know that as well. All Eddy current brakes I have seen so far have been quite expensive, although I have not looked at those low capacities. They do sell China made brakes on alibaba.com. They are probably of ok quality, it is not rocket science.
Another option that would be interesting to know is whether anyone has successfully made their own eddy current brakes. For those power levels it should be possible to use a brake disc and some electro magnets from eBay/alibaba....?

I've actually did end up buying one from them, KAS33 3300nm.
Seems like really nice quality, and the price were about 3500 USD shipped to Sweden.
Haven't had time to install it yet but it does work when testing on the pallet.

Did everything work out as supposed with KAS retarder? Does it brake the promised torque?
I am really considering buying one of these. People here state that you can get good EU retarders for at reasonable price. But the ones i have found cost aprox the double of these. Does anyone have links for manufacture or sellers in EU? I only know FRENELSA in spain.

Did you traveled to China to check them out? I want to build my own Dyno but I'm really concerned about the Chinese quality, so is it safe to import them right away and cross fingers? KEAO retarder is also a good choice. Price between $1500~$2000 for a torture from 500Nm to 3800Nm.
I got 2 of KAS38 with from alibaba, a shop name KEAO retarder, they made me customized shafts & voltage controller within 10days. But 40 days shipping in ocean though. Long way to LA.
