Q&A Forum
I need help, have I found this frenelsa brake, will it be worth it?
Could you also advise me with the diameter of the rollers?
Thank you
regards
Goyo
That's a good brake. Do you have the full name from the name plate (i.e. F16-160, F16-250 etc)? Then you can see the spec for it.
Diameter of rollers; Many dynos run about 30 cm diameter. What power levels will you test?

Thanks for answering, the power as much as I can, my bmw now has 450hp, but I am going to raise the power to about 600hp, could the brake support that power?
And what kind of bearings should I mount for the rollers?
Tube diameter and thickness?
Sorry for so many questions but I haven't gotten much information.
On the brake it puts F16 series type 400

F16-400 that should be the 4000Nm version (anyone can confirm?) . That is a very strong brake.
You need pillow bearings on each end of the rollers, but I am not the best to give dimensions, etc. Anyone else can help? If not, you can also try DIY Dyno on Facebook, lots of knowledgeable people there on the mechanical design side!
looks like good brake there, i havent sheet but you can talk with Frenesal, they are in Spain , ive been talked with Jesus from Frenelsa ago long time and they have great support and service.
Shafts depend of construction of your dyno, about 55 or 60 shaft would be ok, it should be solid bars insted tube!
So will this brake be enough to boost 600hp?
The 60mm bar will then be enough to make the shaft and what type of bearings would be the best so that they do not break?
thanks for answering
for sure, just maybe you would have slippage problems but if you "knurl" your rollers that helps a lot.
here in spain there are some companies making dynos with even 50mm shafts. 55 or 60mm is enought, my hub dyno has 55mm shaft and im sure it will holds +1500hp. all depend how you fabricate it, if you make in 2 pieces, then weld it, or in one piece ,etc.
The idea was to make 2 rollers. I don't know if 300mm or 500mm can't find information that is independent and joined by a bending device.
What company in Spain is the dyno
i think bigger has more advantages on a roller dyno but it could be expensivest.
