Cable from controller to retarder

What do you recommend for the size and type of cable from controller to retarder? shielded unshielded 8 gauge 4 gauge ??? Will be around 20 foot long

From the controller to the power supply you can use any 2 wire cable. It is not carrying current but a digital signal, shielding is not necessary.

From the Power supply to the Retarder you should gauge it same as the mains wires (which will depend on the mains fuse and rules in your country).

@osi, it is not normally necessary if you route the power carrying wires away from the signal wires and the instrument unit.
