Hey Jostien

Thanks for an awesome product that works so well!

After some use, I have a few suggestions /wishlists and I hope some will agree with my viewpoints I have raised below.

As I see the program, I see two working screens, a tests overview page and a live data page.

A logging Screen

I feel we require an additional and separate screen for during the tests/logging that will be for the purpose of plotting the live power output graph as the vehicle produces it and the screen states the peak power/ torque points below as it achieves them.

I think this is necessary as every now and again we have customers are standing by with much excitement and they want to watch their cars power output on the screen as it goes through the rev range during logging.

I also personally want to scrutinize the graph directly after the test and I would prefer it if the only thing I see after the run, is the actual run with options to save it (and name it), discard it or restart it.

The Live Data Screen

The live data screen, in my opinion this should be strictly for tuning/ monitoring purposes and for initiating the logging screen when required.
There are elements in this screen I feel are too small, especially if you are using a keyboard/mouse combo from a few meters away in a vehicle.
The small RPM setup button and the pop up window with text makes the RPM setup difficult to perform.

Also there is information on the Live data screen that in my opinion should not be there, such as the test name, comments, data bits per second, status and arrange gauges.

All we need to see is the profile/ session name we are currently in so we know we are saving the tests/ runs into the correct profile/ session.

The Arrange gauges should be done on a simple right click of the mouse or drag and drop on a double click

The Tests Overview Screen

The only change I would suggest in this screen is that any completed runs be grouped in colour and that a simple check be done that any new runs added do not have the same colours on the graphs.

Options Menu

In the Options window in the tests overview page, I require a default directory change option as I have to continuously navigate elsewhere to save in my network attached storage.

I also desperately require an option to select between Kilowatts and Horsepower as the measurement and display of power output.

I also feel that the company logo in the options directory should actually be the one displayed on the print preview page (print header) and that we can choose between a text logo, an actual logo or both to be displayed on the graphs.
I personally felt that the page setup for the print header / company logo was not in an obvious place.

Print setup in my opinion is usually relating to margins and the orientation.

This was the last place I would have thought to get my logo inserted  in.

That’s about all the issues I have found with the software that I would poll with the users for their opinion.

I have attached some screenshots and made edits to them so you can visualize what I mean above.

Thanks again for the great product and its continuous improvements

Brendan!

Hi, @ppsa!

Thanks for your detailed wish list and helpful illustrations! I like several of the ideas.

The idea of making the main screen into a live logging screen where you see the graph progress and can compare to other runs on the fly, and today's "Run" screen mostly for tuning purposes is good. I will check how that can be done. Earlier, when there was no way to store the retardation run, this would not be possible. But now it should be. I like the idea of using two screens simultaneously also.

I will investigate.

Cheers

Hi Jostein @admin,

do you want or need any free help with development? I love these ideas. Sometimes it is not about programming skills, it is about creating new ideas. You could setup a private repo and others (or me) can contribute on request...

Hi Jostein

Out of curiosity also as a add on
Do you think it will be a good idea to be able to save the gear ratio in a list with a comment of what vehicle it is for
We do a lot of the same vehicles, such as a Golf 5 GTi with either 17", 18" or 19" rims and if we are switching between vehicles with different tyre diameters all it takes is a selection in a drop down list.
I usually cross reference the display/ tuning screens rpm with the in car dash rpm to confirm if they are the same and then I know if I need to calibrate.

I think the next addition to my wishlist is that we move to some sort of a database
These individual files drive me nuts
