Dear members,

In my very first video on Youtube you can see how I am building a brake dyno at home.

What stepper motor, controller and voltage are you using?

Good job! Did you find a good repeatability of the tests?

In my setup repeatability now it isn't good, between two tests I see 0.6hp of difference. To improve the repeatability I'm working to position of oil hoses. What kind of oil hoses are you using?

Dear members,

Today I received the Murata Shock Sensor Board, the first tests on a 12v electric motor seem satisfying. At the end of this week I will post this and report on Youtube.

If everything goes well, we will do the first test on Sunday, November 18th, this also comes with a complete report from Youtube.

Greetings,

Derk

Hi Derk

Can you post some pics of your flow valve setup.. I've tryed everything to get mine to work and it's useless.

I used nema 17 with 3.7/1 to overcome the valve stiffness when under high pressure and it still wasn't strong enough to turn the valve. I then went to 100/1 in the stepper but the dyno softwhere hasn't enough steps to controle it and is way to slow.

I'm getting somewhat frustrated with it as everything works on my dyno apart from the flow controle side witch is really anoying.

Hello,

Of course I want to put photos on the forum, but you do not have much of a photo. Tell me more about your project, maybe I can help you better. I think a Nema 17 is simply too small to operate a hydraulic valve.

Hello everyone,
Part 4 is online now!
The run we did was good, unfortunately we did not test the engine, we got an electronic fault just before the start. We have tested a few times manually, but the problems only got bigger. I have made a new control, of which I show the design in a following video.

I hope you have fun with watching Part 4

Looking good, always some bugs to work out.

Did you use the stepper motor to control the hydraulic valve?

I am curious if it has enough torque to run the valve correctly?

Jeff
