Hi

Do l need to use a load cell amplifier for the torque arm from land and sea if l want to use it together with yourdyno ?

I also wonder if it's possible to connect a fuel flow meter to yourdyno? Haven't seen it in the program!

Best regards

Glenn

Hi,

No amplifier is necessary. I cannot see where the load cell is, but in any case just measure the distance between the load and the brake center for the load arm length.

For the fuel flow meter, is it a type where it outputs a certain number of pulses per sec depending on the flow. This is not supported directly today, but is an easy software addition. A few guys have asked for this lately so I will see if I can add this in the next release. In the meantime you can use a frequency to voltage converter and use an aux port.

It's under the black cover.  I think it's a Wire strain gauge. (trådtöjningsgivare)

I haven't bought any flow sensor yet.

I have seen there is different kind of  output signal to choose, like CAN, Digital TTL pulse (0-5V) and Analog voltage (0-10V) .

Any you recommend to use ?

The analog voltage sensor can be connected to YourDyno via a voltage divider (such that you get 0-5V instead of 0-10V). Then go into the Aux setup and set 0V = 0 liters per minute and 5V = xx liters per minute (or gpm or whatever you use).

There is support for CAN with YourDyno (through the CANTool plugin). What CAN sensor are you looking at?

The digital TTL is quite common, and this is the unit that would need a firmware and software upgrade to enable.

Okay thanks

I have looked  at this sensor but im not sure what it will cost. https://www.sentronics.com/products/flowsonic-lf/

Or something from here

https://www.massflow-online.com/shop/en/fuel-flow-meters-liquid-24/

Is it possible to use 2 sensors (in and out ) and calculate the difference in yourdyno?

That looks really good. Let us know when you get the price of it.

With a plugin you can use 2 sensors for difference calculations. Note that the sensors need to be very accurate, maybe calibrated together, for the result to be accurate.

I have talked with the company now and l got a price list. if someone is interested l can share it

They told me that can is more stable than pulse.  So lm not going to use pulse signal. Which signal i best/ easiest to use?

CAN j1939/S6 , RS-232, RS-485

Best regards

@bmgjet, can you assist in this one? I imagine the CAN j1939/S6 is the answer here, but what is necessary on the plugin side to read this CAN signal?

Id either need one to sniff the CAN data from to work out data from.
Or need specs on CAN msgid, frame lay out, conversions for bytes to values which there datasheet on there website is missing.

The bottom one you can just use an arduino for frequency to 0-5V and proably be able to put a plugin together quite easily.
Or use a stand alone fuel counter box with it which is what I have on bench dyno so we know how much to charge for fuel.
It says total fuel usage and peak flow rate which you can estimate efficency from vs peak power.

Thanks. I'm having a manual so im going to see what l can find in it.

Have l understand you right that l need to convert the can signal to analog 0-5v?

Do you recommend any stand alone fuel counter box to buy?

Something like this works as an interface between the fuel flow sensor to YourDyno:

https://monarchinstrument.com/products/f2a1x-frequency-to-analog-converter-tachometer

There are probably much lower cost alternatives, search for Frequency to analog

If it has CANBus youd use the digital CAN signal from that.
If its only has frequency like your 2nd listing then youd use a frequency to voltage converter.

Thanks for that.

I have decided to buy from this company and not from the others.

Https://www.btflowmeter.com/en/flow-meter-products/dfm-pom-pvdf-ectfe-series-q-05-21-lpm-for-chemicals-oil-diesel-water-glycole/dfm-pom-16-lpm-15016204-pnp.html

So l have one last question .

The square output signal is npn or  pnp. Which one is the right?

There is also a option with a analog sinus signal 4-20ma. I Think it is 0-10v. Is that maybe better/cheaper to use ? Or is a sinus signal wrong to use ?

https://static.rapidonline.com/pdf/50-0016.pdf

1 of those im going to buy,

do you think the update for pulse signal will be in like 1-2 months? if so im going to buy that one. otherwise its maybe better with det other one?

Only the 50-0016.pdf can be used. The other one has a 20mV sinus signal, which would not be any good.

1-2 months should be possible for native support, but you could just use a frequency to voltage converter while waiting.
