Hi,

as many others I also want build my own dyno.

My first step was design CAD data and meanwhile looking for used eddy current brakes. After months of calling and seeking I finally found two almost identical eddy brakes.

Unfortunately when I took them at home I found out that the brakes don't have internal bearings. It was taken from transmission of a bus where the transmission shaft was connected with rotors of the brake but stator of the brake was joined only with a transmission casing.

It's this brake: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://www.telmausa.com/TELMATECHWEB/DOC/PDF/OC442036b.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjzjYKknvDnAhXRMewKHfaUBXoQFjAAegQIAhAB&usg=AOvVaw1On7N_YkxQi7ZQbz08906E

So should I try to find a way how to use them or it's better to throw them out and try to find something better?

Hi,

I don't see how you can use those brakes without some major work on them 😥.

Probably better to try to sell them and buy something else. Maybe someone else here has an idea?
