My Froude controll valve made total of 120°
On the controller I set 800 steps/rpm so that I have 267 steps
Is that enough ?

Yes for sure. On our water brake we use only 55 steps. We can go to micro stepping, but have found no need for that for normal sweeps.

is there an target step range for water brake ?

As long as it is fast enough to respond to the most aggressive engine, more steps are ok. How much time does it take from min to max opening? Ours is about 0.5 seconds.
