Hi

im planning to build a hydraulic dynamomenter for snowmobiles up to 300hk and 250 nm.

I have got a quite big hydaulic gear motor/pump, 268,8 cm3/rev.

My problem is to find a valve with flow around 600-700 lpm.  Can l find that?

l think a smaller valve will work if l run the dyno under force. but if l want to speed the engine up without using the brake ( zero pressure) it will not work.

maybe a cheap solutions is to bypass the valve with another valve that l can use manually or with yourdyno?

last question, is it possible to adjust a valve under pressure (250 bar)?

Best regards

glenn

Hi,

Yes, that's high... I believe a normal 1 inch Barrel flow control valve is rated for about 150-200 l/min, and even that with quite some back pressure, but I am not a hydraulic expert. The valve I used on my hydraulic brake was no problem to adjust under full pressure, but we tested only up to 85hp. It was similar to this: http://www.isis-fluid.co.uk/products/83/barrel-flow-control-valve-double-acting

Anyone else here knows? Or ask a hydraulic forum out there!

ok, thanks.

is it possible to use Directional Control Valves direct to yourdyno?  or do l need something more to controll it?

like this one

You could connect a VM167 board or the relay plugin to control the valve if you are able to set it to some logic behaviour (e.g. if RPM is over a certain value). But it is probably easier to just do it manually with a switch.
