Help needed with yourdyno issue

My dyno setup has been working great since about October when I got it setup besides a few little mishaps (2 drive belts, one belt tensioner and a load cell have been replaced on it) the other day I tuned a corvette on it in the morning and put a civic on it later to tune and when I was trying to set the rpm of the engine by wheel speed it would have an interment connection problem and this error kept popping up saying “yourdyno not responding correctly, disconnect and connect yourdyno” I tried unplugging all connections and plugging them back in. Tried a new usb cable to the computer that the yourdyno board is ran to, checked the wires for the roller speed rpm pickup and all measure out to 0ohms at the terminals so I know there’s no broken wires. I’m kind of thinking it’s either an issue with the yourdyno circuit board or an issue with my rpm pickup for the roller. I also tried to switch the rpm pickup from rpm1 to rpm2 and put the settings in 2 as they were in 1 but the same problem persists.

on a side note, it will have a normal connection as long as it’s connected but within 10-20 seconds of the rollers spinning it will error out and loose connection.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Trevor

Hi.

I have had kind of the same problem.

My sollution was to ground the dyno frame, brake, screen.

and the cabinet that is housing the yourdyno also needed grounding.

Maybe its the same problem you have.

@t-rev, the input from @thdyno is good. Let me know if you still have issues, I can log in remotely and take a look.

Also, make sure the unit is not vibrating and subject to shocks from loud exhausts or something like that.

I meant to post yesterday but I was able to get it working again. What it was is the strain gauge for the Hall effect roller rpm pickup had come off and the three wires were shorting inside of the connector. I insulated the wires so they wouldn’t short out and it’s working again. Thanks for the help guys.
