Eddy brake dyno set up moi

Any one set up a eddy brake dyno can’t seem to figure out how to know if my moi is correct? On YouTube the graph that is Being showed is different to the graph I’m getting

Hi,

Can you post your graph?

There are different ways to do it. You can also do one slow and one fast run, the two runs should overlap as much as possible. You can also do one steady state run at a certain RPM, then run a sweep at at that set RPM they should have the same power.

@admin any chance you can put that into simple terms? Lol I don’t understand how can a slow run and fast run overlap? On YouTube the video says that the power going up the graph should be the same going down upload the raw log the adjust to set it up? Mine when I do a run it’s a normal graph showing bhp and torque they don’t go up and back down? I don’t understand it. Sorry first time using any dyno.

  1. Turn off "Enable correction for rolling resistance vs speed from measured data" under Horsepower Correction
  2. Choose RPM Curve under Brake Control Setup. Define an RPM curve that ramps up then ramps down again
  3. Do the run, making sure your car sweeps up through the RPM range then down again, all the way when you hold full throttle. You may want to turn off Auto start/stop

That is the standard way. But as said, you can also do two normal runs from low to high RPM, one slow ramp (uses longer time to sweep through the RPM range for example 8 seconds) and fast (for example 4 seconds). When you look at those two curves overlaid they should overlap as much as possible.

The first option is more practical as you only need to rerun 1 run when you change MOI. And the rerun is not an actual run, you just rerun the stored log file as explained in the video.

So if I turn off “compensate for inertia effects during acceleration” I get a graph that looks like what’s on YouTube. I’ve set my moi to 11.7 and the results look good however I couldn’t edit the run by loading the raw log file I had to do a new run to get it to work. Does this look correct now?

Hi, 

No that will not work. The point is to fint the right moi so if you turn it off then you will not see any effect of it. 

Also the power figures are super low, so have you calibrated the load cell? That needs to be done before finding the moi.

@admin yes done the calibration And that was the only way to get the graph like that? I don’t understand how to adjust it like how it’s been explained. If there anyway I can get someone to look with team viewer and help me get through it all?
