Hi

I am making a chassis dyno system based on Bosch FLA - 203.
It is dyno equipped with two rollers and a eddy current brake.
Is yourdyno software available on that system?
I think it is necessary to set the inertia of the roller and the axle.
Can it be set by software?

thank's

Note that this is an old reply. YourDyno now supports inertia compensation for brake dynos.

Hi,

The system supports both brake and inertia dynos, but not at the same time, you need to select one of them in the software. For a brake dyno there is always an inertia component that will be unaccounted for. This component is small unless you have fast ramp rates and/or have very heavy rollers compared with the horsepower. I don't know the roller weight of the Bosch dyno, but typically they try to make them light to minimize this error.

I can upload an excel file later today to that you can play with to calculate the error. Typically it is small.

How is the brake controlled?

Cheers,
Jostein

Hi,

Here is a calculator to play with to see the effect of the weight of the rollers on a brake dyno. You can edit the green fields.

Even the weight of the wheels of the car matters a little bit. But in practice you just extend the length of the run and it will be a very small error. For steady state of course it does not matter at all.

Cheers,
Jostein

Hi,

Does anyone know how to open Bosch FLA - 203 service menu? or have any relevant documentation?

I  want to tune printer settings (Epson, HP, etc...).

Thanks,

Daniel

Has anyone already succeded in using this with the fla203? I also have one and I would love to convert it to your software/controller.

Thank you

Hi,

The FLA203 is YourDyno's main test system! It works perfectly with YourDyno. See:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAlMACLq3WY&list=PLY0Jbm3PZ_IO-M92mTdyAIMQs6HU-xLJP&index=1   for the upgrade process.

Note that YourDyno now supports compensation for inertia. The moment of Inertia for this dyno is 10.7kg m^2. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RVmxpCk0SE

Cheers,
Jostein

Hi Jostein,

Thank you very much for your reply.

We are very interested in using your software/hardware immediately. Can you please send us a proforma for our email and we can discuss everything from there? We want to buy the whole pack.  URGENT

Hi Jostein,

I've almost ordered your system today, but would like to be sure I'm ordering all that I need.
I also have an FLA206, but would like to use it in 2wd mode now like FLA203.
Could you help me with a draw or CNC file of the new rpm wheel, or do you have a wheel for sale?
Please send here a link about the  0-5V to 0-10V panel.
My company has EU VAT, do you invoice on net price or is there a +tax at the checkout?
I couldn't find a demo run csv, may I have one please?

Your project is amazing, I've read all about it this evening, cheers from Hungary

Richie

Hi,

Here is an example of a trigger wheel you can machine:  http://yourdyno.com/20ToothTriggerWheel.DXF

But there are trigger wheels to be bought also, see  http://yourdyno.com/the-trigger-wheel/

The price is of the unit is without tax. You will normally have to pay sales tax as part of the import to your country.

You can try out  http://yourdyno.com/DemoRun2.csv to test the software.

Cheers

Hi guys,

I've recently bought a yourdyno box an is running it on my FLA-203 which runs in only intertia mode - brake is not fitted.

It work perfect and I used the standard trigger wheels, but removed every second tooth so it now is a 50 teeth wheel.

Hi, did you remove them from both pulleys? or only one, i have the same fla203 but with eddie curr brake, i imagine will work as good this solution?

if anyone has good source for AD8608 OPAMP in europe please post link or info.

thanks.

I am only using the pulley on the roller in front - the right solution was probably to use both, but the power I see on the dyno doesnt require it I guess.

I am looking for a brake to fit, to get it back to the original state with eddy. It works fine but run time is quite fast with more than 180 hp.
