I am building the mechanical side of a motor cycle bike dyno with an 18" X 24" X 5/8 thick drum. 60mm shaft plus other rotating parts.

Not taking into account the weight and rotating mass of these components that would be considered if I was building a simple inertia dyno,

Can you suggest what power eddy current brake is required to load my dyno.

I would like to be able to test bikes up to 300hp with 200nm torque at 7200rpm.

300hp =223.71 KW

I assum when looking at edc brakes specifications the dissipated power rating would need to be 223.71kw or more?

Also am I correct in thinking the mass inertia of the roataing parts will not influence the power dissipation rating required for the edc as tha drum will already be spun up and the brake will simply apply the load to regulate the required rpm to be tested.

Please only reply if you can back up your answer with technical info no jokers please?

Bernard

Drum will have a max rotational speed of 4000rpm this would mean the test speed would be 200mph meaning edc max rpm required 4000rpm

would it be advisable not to use an edc powder brake as it would wear out?
