RPM sensor issue

Hi everyone!

The problem I heve a bit strange - YpurDyno Standard V5 does not see any input pulses from the sensor.

I have an optical fork light barrier sensor and trying to use it as RPM sensor instead of recommended by Your Dyno.

The sensor itself is 5VDC powered, capable of switching up to 25kHz, square wave output (positive +4.2V relative to the "-").

Any ideas how to fix it? The new sensor is not an option for the moment.

Hi,

The RPM signal input has a pullup of 500 ohm so the sensor needs to be able to pull the signal down to close to 0V. If the sensor is not strong enough, you can use a Sparkfun optocoupler between the sensor and YourDyno.

Hi,

I have measured the sensor twice with 1k pullup and without.

Without pullup the steady state is 0V, after the optical path triggered the output is about 4.2V with 17ms squarewave.

With pullup there are 1.18V and 4.2V corresponding.

Moreover I have oscillograms but can't attach them to the message.

Just tested with with 0.5k - there are 1.938V and 4.2V corresponding.

OK, so the sensor is not strong enough. Send the signal through this board: SparkFun Opto-isolator Breakout - SparkFun Electronics
