Hi folks,

I am implementing an option to use a variable gear ratio. So instead of locking the gear ratio, it would just calculate it on the fly all the time. Nice for torque converters and CVTs.

I would like data from a variety of setups to test it on before releasing. Could some of you send me .log file(s) + csv file + saved config file for runs with torque converters or CVTs where there is a direct engine RPM measurement (Either using RPM2, Eng RPM, CAN bus or OBD2)?

Send to jostein@yourdyno.com

Thanks!

@nathaniel-john-brana the feature is available. You can click the "Re-calcualte results from variable gear ratio" option in the Gear ratio window.

A new version is underway where it uses the direct engine RPM measurement as the master RPM channel. This is only recommended if you have fast, clean direct engine RPM channel, for example CAN bus or fast OBD2 (depends on the car) or other digital signal.

Hi Jostein,

It's been a while since we've spoke I have purchased a YourDyno instrument unit and power supply from you about 4 years ago but only now in the process of getting things up and running. A friend and I have put together a snowmobile track dyno using your hardware and an eddy brake. We have made our first pull using a low powered fan cooled snowmobile a few days ago. We are still very new to this but if any info we can share to you will help you out we will be happy to assist.

Hi @dave-parsons,

Try out the new variable gear ratio option in the newest version. You need two RPM sensors; one of the brake and one on the engine. Let me know how it goes!
