My V5 is not seeing RPM

Hello,

Finally, after a long, long time, I've finally set-up my V5 + power supply combo on my Dynojet 250i (motorcycle) dyno.

I've done the load cell calibration, checked it's working and and checked the retarder is working fine. I made a 40 teeth laser-cut two-piece 5 mm steel phonic wheel that I bolted on the original phonic wheell between the roller and the retarder (pic attached). I configurated everything as stated by the user manual (Loadcell1 / RPM1) and tried to test the RPM sensor. My dyno has a starter motor, so it should be an easy test. I displayed the RPM1 channel gauge on the run window and pressed the starter for some seconds to get the drum rolling at speed.

But I got no RPM reading, it stayed stuck at 0. According to the manual, YourDyno needs at least 200 pulses per second to work properly, my guess is that the starter is easily getting that (5 rpm/set according to my 40 teeth phonic wheel)

So, I'd like to know if there's a way to check the V5 is getting a signal or if I have to use my oscilloscope to check its quality/speed.

I'm relly close now to having everything completed.

Hi,

The RPM works also with fewer teeth per second. The red light should be on when a tooth is near. If it is not, something is not right. Take the RPM sensor off and put it against some steel (not stainless). You can even quickly move it near and away from the steel and you will see the RPM1 channel display something. You need to setup RPM1 to be Load Cell 1 RPM and set number of teeth. If you are looking at Engine RPM instead of RPM1, make sure the gear ratio is not 0.
