Land and sea water brake

I need to know if there is a way to get this dyno to work with your data acquisition software and hardware.

If it work I am really interested to buy a kit.

The hardware and software for my Dyno is too old and i cant use it on a modern laptop.

I've been looking all over the place and I think that your system is my best bet.

Hello, 

That's a nice water brake. As long as you can fit the load cell and the RPM sensor, YourDyno will be perfect. The RPM sensor can pick up for example a bolt on the spinning axle, very simple. You need to control the water flow using the Land & Sea system, is it manually controlled with a valve? 

Let me know if you need dimensions or anything like that.

Its  a manually control setup. 

here is a pic of the wiring harness and the water pressure control valve.

Today I talked to Land and sea and they might trade off old my old electronics. The thing is how much they will ask for the upgrade.

I like your system because its universal, work on custom builds and Iam planing on building one later.

Also I have a friend that drag race snowmobile with us and need to same system upgrade so I will talk to him about your website.

I want to use an electromagnetic Brake so I don't have to carry a water drum and just plug the it dyno right into an electric source.

The probleme is that the electromagnet don't like high Rpm.

So my question: Is its possible to use a 1/10 ratio chaincase or some thing like that and correct the torque number in the software?

 

That way if I have an engine that peak at 10 000 rpm and divide by 10 the speed of the crank... The output shaft of the 1/10 chaincase where I take my torque reading will only spin at 1000 rpm but the torque will be greater right?

Maybe I am just wrong but I checked all over the place and every electromagnetic brake I find are rated for  high torque but low rpm braking (by low I mean 2000 rpm average) since we are testing 10 000 rpm+ engines.

Absolutely, you can do gearing. It is very common to employ some sort of gearing. 

You can either enter the gear ratio in the system, or hold the RPM to a certain known value (say 4000RPM) and press a button to auto-calculate the gearing. 

You need to increase the size of the load cell when you use gearing. There is a calculator here:

It is made for hydraulic brakes, but the math is the same. Just enter the Horsepower, the RPM of the brake and the lenght of the torque arm. It will tell you the right load cell size.

This is awesome that answer my questions !

Today I talked about your work with the shop owner and he will let me setup the Dyno with your software hardware.

I will order Your kit And use it with the water brake we have and see how it goes.

This is gonna save us a lot of problem I can't wait to try it out.

Its been sitting there for 2 years and we had to pay for Dyno runs.

Tomorrow we will setup a pay pal account. 

If everything work fine I will build my own compact electromagnet brake to carry around at the drag race.

Do you ship to canada? If I can't get the system to work can I return the the package?

Sounds good! Yes, we ship to Canada and yes you can return within 30 days if you are unhappy with the performance or anything.

Have you done any further work on your land and sea dyno? I have the same unit and was thinking of setting it up for chassis dynoing of our drag snowmobiles.
