Hi there.

I have been playing with the DTech box for a while, didn't get reliable results until today.

Here is how I stumbled upon getting it to work properly.

I had been speaking to Jostein for a while about the box, ended up buying the MSD clip. This is really good for the modern motorcycles I work on. But a bit small for the Cdi units. A clamp would be way better.

DTech give you a wiring diagram to add 12v and this is how I had tried before. I made up 2 leads for input, one was just a single wire to be placed by the side of the HT lead. The second was an inductive clamp by innovate. I just cut the plug off and made the 2 wires suit the DTech input, one to signal, one to ground. Not an expensive clamp.

I couldn't get this to work properly.Just by complete chance I started the bike with the power (12v) disconnected. And ended up with a perfect RPM signal on screen.

Tried both the single wire (say 30mm length taped along HT) and the Innovate clamp. Perfect, good solid signal and RPM with no drop out from both.

A word with the Innovate clamp. Its directional, has an arrow to show this.

No idea why or how the DTech box performed better with no 12v, but it does. Sent 2 videos to Jostein to show him. Im not an electronics engineer. Possibly someone can explain?

Hope this helps anyone who has the same box.
