Q&A Forum
Hi all ! Just using the calculator on this site to choose the correct load cell . I have one now but want to make sure it correct .
Just a few questions
where is the torque arm measured ?
also it’s telling me I need a 117kg load cell , do I go for a 200kg one or 100kg as this is all that I can find ?
thanks heaps
Hi,
The torque arm is from the middle of brake axel to the place where the arm meets the load cell.
Go for 200kg, it is always good with a bit of buffer and it needs to tolerate hard braking. An alternative way to calculate the load cell size is to use the brake's max torque rating. I.e. Load cell size (kg) >= max brake torque rating (Nm) / 9.81 /load arm length (m)
Hi all I'm converting my smog dyno and it has 2 coils in-between the flywheel. How can I determine the max braking for this setup?
@abuen 200kg is probably good there, but if you find any data on the max torque of the retarder then we can calculate more accurately
