Q&A Forum
Hello,
On engine dyno, in case of problems, it would be nice to have a digital outputs of the controller acting as a rev limiter cutout.
This output would drive a relay which drives the power to the engine electronics.
This output should be very reliable and react very fast. That's why it should be a direct IO on the controller and not on any external IO module.

Hi,
You can do this with the KMTronic relay module. It will be as fast as any YourDyno output. You set it to trigger on an RPM set point.
The idea of using an output on the controller is to not rely on anything USB, serial or the PC.
In case of PC software/hardware problems, USB disconnections, etc... on engine dyno, the last element alive will be the controller. And the only one reading directly the speed sensor. This is very important when you run fast reving, low inertia, high cost engines.
