Hello

I want to build a dyno for small one cylinder motors up to 30HP.
I want to set up digital ignitions and carburators.

At first I thought about to use a gearpump and a design like that:

but its a huge amount of outlay with the oil tank and cooling, stepper motor for the valve...

So I thought about to use two car brake disks on a shaft, should be enought to brake down these small engines.
And the design would be much simpler.

Does anyone have some experience with carbrakes?

Greetings

Gearpump brake will be easier.
30HP is still going to make a lot of heat over long runs. You have pads and disks to maintain, Depending on pads used it could get really dusty.

And you still have steper motor or pneumatic valve to controll the hydrolic side of car brake so its not really any different.
