Morning, YD ,

a quick question , i run a maha/sun chassis dyno . the machine measures bhp and rpm on the way up the run ,then adds the bhp drag reading  on the way down to approximate the losses, and give power at the crank .wether this is accurate or not is not the q,  i find it a useful function .... will there be a point where your software can do this too ?

thank you

regards

robert.

Robert,

This is an inertia dyno, right? If so, what you do is to do a run up and down. On the way down you will see the negative torque, which is from the drivetrain losses. You need to set "Horsepower correction from frictional losses" set to 0 in this first run. From the negative torque compared with the postive torque on the way up you find the correct average %-age loss, and enter this into the "Horsepower correction from frictional losses". It is not automatic, but pretty easy to do.

Cheers,
Jostein

This is an old topic but I see it pops up in search results.

Horsepower correction from retardation data is an option now (since a long time).
